Problem statement

Despite the growing presence of women in leadership roles, many still face challenges in negotiations, from salary discussions to decision-making in high-stakes situations. Research shows that women often experience a confidence gap in negotiation settings, which can limit career growth and leadership opportunities. Addressing this gap is crucial for fostering gender equality and empowering women to lead with assertiveness and clarity.

Process

Women’s economic empowerment is a critical, yet significantly unmet need worldwide. According to the World Economic Forum’s 2024 Global Gender Gap Report, women are underrepresented in leadership and economic roles, comprising only 31.7% of senior leaders. Economic gender gaps, compounded by lower access to mentorship, persist in most industries, and it could take 134 years to achieve parity in economic participation alone.

Moreover, women represent just 42% of the global workforce and face unique hurdles in sectors like STEM and AI, where only 12.2% of C-suite positions are held by women. Achieving gender parity improves women’s opportunities and boosts global prosperity. Closing gender gaps in work could raise global GDP by 20%, according to the World Bank.

Economic empowerment is a key driver for gender equality, better social outcomes, and sustainable economic growth. Women worldwide face systemic barriers including limited access to financial resources, business opportunities, mentorship, and leadership development. Leveraging AI to address these challenges can help break down the biases that restrict women's advancement in the workforce, entrepreneurship, and leadership positions.

EQUITABLE is an AI-powered platform that simulates the real-world scenarios women encounter every day - from negotiating promotions to handling micro-aggressions. Users choose the specific challenge they want to practice, along with the counterpart persona they'll be interacting with, whether a tough negotiator or a supportive ally.

The design

Our solution creates a safe space where women can practice and perfect critical skills like strategic negotiation, assertive communication, and executive presence, enabling them to bridge professional gaps effectively. We developed this platform because it offers scalable, personalized support accessible to women across diverse backgrounds. While traditional empowerment programs often face limitations in reach, our AI-driven platform provides targeted, adaptable guidance. Through machine learning, it understands each user's specific challenges and delivers continuous, relevant support for leadership development.

Validated with real users across multiple sessions, the AI feedback system tracked a 15% reduction in negotiation errors over time, demonstrating measurable skill progression through iterative, research-driven design.
